Pastor’s Greeting

The official motto of the United Methodist Church is, “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.”  We here at Sandpoint UMC are committed to living up to that statement.  Sandpoint UMC was started over one hundred years ago in 1897 by three women as the first church in town with that same spirit of openness and a desire to be a place for the town to get together to worship.  That desire is just as strong today as it was all those years ago.  This is our third building, but the same church bell that rang people into church in 1897 has made the journey with us and still rings each Sunday to say that all are welcome.

If you take the time to get to know the people of Sandpoint UMC you’ll find that they are genuine and committed in all that they do whether it’s their love of Christ, their joy in worship or their warmth and hospitality in fellowship.

For those who grew up in a Methodist Church and those who didn’t, we hope that we have something for you all (and if we don’t, we are always looking for new ideas).  The people of this church strive to blend some of those great traditions from our past with some of the new ones from today.  Sandpoint is an artistic, creative, and lively community and this church reflects all of those things in our worship and other activities.

Our hope is that you will give us a chance to let you know that you are welcome.

In God's Trust,
Pastor Darryn Hewson
